Agate

Agate

Agates come in many forms and colours. The main property of agate is that it is a type of chalcedony that is made up of microscopic quartz crystals laid down in bands to form the banded patterns we see. Slightly confusingly there are a lot of forms of chalcedony that have been named Agate but are not truly, such as moss agate and fire agate. These are actually forms of chalcedony. Chalcedony is part of the Quartz family, but is a bigger over arching term and has a lot of crystals under its umbrella such as carnelian, jasper, onyx and aventurine.
Due to it’s banding Agate is often found dyed to enhance the pattern - something which adds no extra healing properties and can actually hinder the working of the crystal.
Agate is a very grounding and stabilising crystal - it can often be found with little Druze quartz crystal which amplify its energy.
The structured way in which the crystalline quartz is laid formed in bands brings a sense of balance, order and stability.
Agate is not a fast transformational crystal but takes its time with gentle slow moving energy that builds. Just like the layers of the agate the healing occurs in layers and bringing patience. It is a good crystal for shadow works as it can help you slowly get to the core of your healing.
Agate can also help boost concentration and memory and is great to have around while you are studying.
Affirmation:
I align myself with patience and time.
I allow myself to move slowly through the layers of my own healing journey.
I release time pressures and rushing out into the universe.

Hold an agate with in your aura. Breathe deeply and aim to breathe out for longer than you breathe in to help clear your lungs.

Imagine the agate glowing the colour of the crystal, and the warm glowing emanating out into your aura. Imagine it penetrating slowly - layer by layer, filling each layer with its warm light made up of tiny crystals of the agate. Take note of there are any nicks or cracks within the aura - are there any places that energy is escaping? What could be causing this energy leak? Imagine the twinkling little crystals warm light filling and healing the leak, restoring your aura to its brightest and fullest. Do the same through the layers of your aura, paying attention to where you feel you could be losing energy. When you come out of the meditation spend some time journaling where you may have an imbalance of energy.

Different Agates have additional healing properties.

Often agate is dyed - especially slices so if there are any that are too brightly coloured it’s probably too bright to be true!
