Gemini Season
On may 21st at 02.22 AM (London UK) the sun moves into the sign of Gemini. Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac, ruled by Mercury the planet of communication. It is a mutable sign as it is on the cusp of a change of season from Spring into summer, and brings with it change, flexibility and in some ways, restlessness.
Gemini is said to be witty, quick thinking, and great at multi tasking, however this ability to have many things going on can mean they sometimes struggle to get things finished, and leave people confused and unable to follow them. Gemini thrives on change and can sometimes become restless – especially when undertaking mundane tasks. Communication is key with Gemini, and often lines of communication become more open and easier during Gemini season (read below to see what mercury retrograde has to say about that!).
Represented by the Twins, Gemini is often thought of as two faced – however this is not the case. Gemini has a natural ability to present themselves differently depending on their surroundings, and it is a very subconscious part of their being. This doesn’t mean they are false people – it is because they have such a strong awareness of those around them, great social understanding, and an aptitude for change. During Gemini season we can all harness this energy to be more aware in social situations and comfortable with change. Uranus is currently in Taurus – which can also bring up some issues surrounding coping with or resisting change – the Gemini energy can be harnessed to help bring comfort in changes.
Mercury
As Mercury is the planetary ruler of Gemini it is important to mention how its retrograde may affect the energies of this period. Currently Mercury is retrograding in Gemini - meaning it might be playing havoc with all things Gemini related – technology, travel and communication.
From the 21st of May - 23rd of May we have both the Sun and Mercury conjunct in Gemini, meaning their energies will blend and accentuate each other. This aspect between Mercury and Gemini typically signifies good fortune, decision making and a flow of ideas – HOWEVER as this is a retrograde phase it may be best to hold off on acting on these ideas and choices. It may be a good idea to be particularly cautious and aware about how you communicate and your use of technology on these days.
From 23rd May – 3rd June Mercury will move into Taurus – usually brining a more stable quality to the thoughts and ideas that may have cropped up while Mercury was in Gemini. With Mercury in Taurus and the Sun in Gemini this would usually be a great time to start anchoring those ideas and apply the earthy Taurus energy to put these plans in place, again however, mercury retrograde isn’t a great time to be putting in big changes. During these 11 days its may be best to quietly do some planning, try to organise our thoughts and spend some time reflecting on the journey that bought you to this point.
From the third of June for around 2 weeks the Mercury retrograde energies can still be felt – meaning that this year it will affect pretty much the whole of Gemini season. As Gemini is all about communication, multi-tasking and can often bring scattered/ restless thinking it might be good practice to keep ourselves grounded, take extra care with our words, and not let our thoughts run away with us.
Associated Chakra for Gemini
As we know Mercury rules Gemini and communication is key – therefore it is no surprise that the key chakra for Gemini is The Throat.
Located in the throat / neck area, the throat chakra governs matters of truth, honesty and communicating heart feelings. Working on the throat chakra can aslo bring an energy of calm. A balancedthroat chakra will enable you to communicate in a healthy way and includes creative expressions of communication such as singing, writing, dancing and self expression such as body language. An imbalanced throat chakra may be someone who is argumentative, or say things without tact, or who talks over people and doesn’t let others ‘get a word in edge ways’. It could also be people who have trouble speaking their truths or are very shy.
Physically: sore throat, ear infections, teeth issues.
Whilst Gemini energy can bring a boost in healthy communcation, the retrograde might be a good time to use the calming energy of the thoat chakra, and to use creativity in the forms of writing, singing or dancing rather than talking. As I have said before reflection could be key at this time, and perhaps a focus could be to think about how you communicate and how effective this is. Could think more before you speak? Do you think too much about what you say? Are you too cautious? Are you honest and as much your authentic self as you can be?
As well as working with the strong chakra energy of the season, it is also impoirtant to look at the energy centre that may need more work. The throat chakra is linked with the Sacral chakra – which is also a centre of creativity. The sacral chakra governs our emotions, intimacy sexuality and creativity. It allows us to be open to new experiences and relationships and is linked with well-being and procreation. An unbalanced sacral chakra may lead to creative or emotional blocks, or a lack of or over bearing sexual energy or emotional instability. It may also lead to a lack of confidence in the self.
Physically: reproductive organs, lower abdomen, kidneys, bladder, circulatory system.
During Gemini season it is important not to run away with our airy thoughts, and put energy into feeling, being and creating. This can help to keep our focus and to anchor and ground us instead of running off in different directions which Gemini is very good at!
Crystals for Gemini Season
The first crystal is a well known stone for Gemini – Tigers eye. Tigers eye is all about dual energies and bringing balance. Tigers eye can help bring the twins back together and bring harmony to opposing energies such as yin/ yang, positive/negative, masculine/ feminine. It also works well for both solar plexus and sacral chakra, balancing hormones and helping with manifestation. Also great for courage, integrity, and strength.
Due to their quick thinking, Gemini can struggle to keep their concentration on one thing, get things finished and stay on task, this could be reflective for everyone during the coming month. Two crystals to help with this are Citrine
and Fluorite. Citrine is a stone of the sun – it brings positivity, abundance, energy and motivation to the solar plexus. It is great for keeping us on track to remind us of our end goals and direct our energy to the task in hand. Fluorite is amazing for concentration, it clears the aura and offers protection while boosting mental ability and discernment. Aquamarine is a stone of tranquillity which calms Geminis busy mind and helps to organise thoughts, its great for mental clarity and is helpful for this mercury retrograde as it aids truthful yet calm communication.
I am feeling Apophyllite is really coming through with the energies of the moment. I have been so drawn to it and I feel its such a wonderful crystal to be working with for ascension. As a Gemini I was curious as to whether it has links to the coming season so I had a look at the amazing Judy Hall’s Crystal Zodiac (2017: 21) and found that Apophyllite is actually her suggested crystal for a Gemini sun ‘birthday ritual’! Judy suggests holding it above your head, and visualising a pyramid of light, ‘to form a cloak of protection around your whole body dissolving your worries and giving you a calm centre…now picture whatever you wish for yourself flowing out across the next year of your life.’ Apophyllite is an amazing crystal for clearing negativity from your aura, removing energy blockages and warding off stress and anxiety. It is an angelic crystal so is great for connecting with your angels (see Gemini Angel below) and are great for spiritual awakening.
For any Air sign its very important to keep grounded. I love Smoky quartz for Gemini energy – it is very grounding but has a more gentle feel than some other root chakra crystals. Being thinkers, Gemini can sometimes over think, and their fast mental energy can lead to anxiety - smoky quartz is a great stone for helping an anxious mind. It is also great for protecting us from negative energy.
Crystals for the throat chakra and Sacral are also great if you are spending time working on these. These are blues and oranges.
Arch Angel Healing
The angel related to Gemini zodiac season is Angel Zadkiel. Zadkiel is the Angel of forgiveness and letting go, as well as being associated with memory. Whilst Gemini may seem light hearted in nature, flitting from one subject to another with ease, they also have a long memory. This long memory can bring a tendency to hang on to past hurts deep down, which can cause blockages and energy leeks. This in combination with the energy of mercury retrograde and its reflection could be a great time to work on past hurts and forgiveness. This isn’t just about forgiving others, and Mercury moving into Taurus could bring up some self esteem issues – which makes this a great time to work on forgiving yourself and working on self love. Call in Angel Zadkiel to help you let go and bring compassion and love for others as well as yourself. Pink crystals (such as rose quartz, mangano calcite and rhodonite) and Amazonite are great crystals to work with when letting go and forgiving. You can find some great guided meditations on youtube for work with each Angel, here is somewhere to start https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pVLdMUxAtA
Colour Healing
The colour yellow is associated with Gemini season! This is because it is a month full of energy and brightness. Trying adding some yellow crystals (citrine, yellow calcite, yellow agate) to your space or some yellow cushions/ small furnishings. Add some yellow foods to your diet such as bananas, turmeric, peppers, lemons, add yellow film to your water bottle and charge water in the sun.
