The root chakra is located at the base of the spine / body. It is associated with security, stability and keeping us grounded. The earth star is our connection to Mother Earth - situated around a foot below us and keeping us grounded and anchored in this life. The root chakra is associated with red crystals, as well as brown and black, as is the earth star. Many black crystals also have an element of protection.
